Project Title ping-pong mathlete
Synopsis Table Tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a
lightweight ball back and forth across a table using a small bat. The sport originated in
Victorian England, where it was played among the upper-class as an after-dinner parlour
game, and now it has increasing popularity among all age groups. Our project is about
mathematical modelling and visualisation of ping-pong balls motion path. Through this
project, we aim to determine the value of the players move, as well as help beginners
and intermediate players to have a better understanding of ping-pong ball. From the
results of our project, we can visualise the motion of the ball in a 3D diagram using the
Wolfram Mathematica program, as well as estimate the quantity of safety and threat of
different moves via the four functions weve defined. (141 words)
