Project Title Project Vision
Synopsis Project Vision is a 5-man group working with the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped. As visual impairment is getting more and more prevalent in today’s raging society, more people are being affected by diseases such as cataract. However, many in the general public are unaware of their plight, leading to discrimination in their daily lives and also in the workforce. We realised that these problems stem from a lack of interaction between the public and the visually impaired. Thus, we adopted a three-pronged approach to raise awareness of the visually impaired to the public, to raise funds for the beneficiary and to facilitate interaction between todays youths and the visually impaired through different events. We have done talks in primary schools, raised close to $4000 and held walks and voluntary sessions for the youth to join and interact with the visually impaired. Through these events, we have impacted the beneficiary by reducing their workload and also keeping the visually handicapped company. We have also impacted the general youths as they have shown more empathy and willingness to help the visually impaired. This would lead to a future working class which will not discriminate the blind, giving them more opportunities in the workforce.
