Project Title Project Novo: Improving lives of people with Parkinson's
Synopsis

Project Novo is a service learning project which have collaborated with Parkinson Society Singapore (PSS) to raise awareness for Parkinson's. Although Parkinson's is the second most common neurological degenerative disease in Singapore, there is a current lack of awareness of Parkinson's amongst the general public as many mistake Parkinson's for other diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Many are also not aware of avenues to seek help if they suffer from Parkinson's. Project Novo has organized a series of campaigns and events aimed at raising awareness through interaction and developing empathy, including a decorative knot booth at Move to Beat Parkinson's, a Knot Tying Course for People with Parkinson's, a Parkinson Simulator to allow the public to experience the symptoms of Parkinson's, as well as Run for Parkinson's, a charity walk-run event to raise awareness and funds for PSS. Throughout the course of our events and initiatives, a total of 72 People with Parkinson's were engaged, with 250 people pledging to support People with Parkinson's, raising awareness in 3000 people and amassing over $5000 worth of funds for our beneficiary, PSS.
