Project TitleProject SM
SynopsisProject SM is a project which aims to provide for seniors a platform for them to interact with others and well as to alleviate the distress caused by mental conditions such as depression and dementia. So why are we focusing on these types of mental conditions? This is because it is a widespread problem: dementia is actually the 7th largest cause of death around the globe, the second most costly disease next to cancer and it is a widespread problem as 10% of senior citizens in SG have dementia. So, we're working with GoodLife! Centre to conduct a social media course on mainly Whatsapp and Facebook, which according to our research, social media can help boost confidence and cognitive abilities among retiring individuals. It can also be used as a tool to connect with others and make new friends.
