|Project Title||Crumb Collecter|
This is a web report on Project Crumb Collector.
Project Crumb Collector is a group of 4 Secondary One boys, us, who made an affordable and aesthetically pleasing product that can collect crumbs for people. We want to make eating on the go convenient and at the same time want to keep the environment clean.
After going through many redesignings on the sketchboard, we purchased the materials needed and went to work. Along the way, we tested our prototype and had to make many modifications to it. What came out was the crumb collector, complete with a chest version and a hand version. The former is a wearable, disposable paper box with an adjustable strap targeted at children, the elderly with trouble eating and people who eat in the cinema. The latter is semi-disposable, with an undisposable plastic device worn on the hand that can hook up plastic bags for collecting crumbs, and is targeted at middle-aged adults.
Yet, we felt that our prototype was still lacking and thus modified the design. We changed the objective to easy cleaning of crumbs for kids and the elderly after eating to suit the new design.The new crumb collector is a plastic sheet that can wrap around any table surface, with the aid of an artificial cardboard table surface, to help collect crumbs while eating. The plastic sheet can then turn into a bag-like shape upon disposal due to its elastic string mechanism.
We feel that our crumb collector is better than other products in the world with the same purpose and is an invention that was worth inventing.
