Project Title Developing a Water Filter Using Nanospun β-Lactoglobulin Amyloid Fibrils
Synopsis Heavy pollution can cause serious threat to human health,

therefore it is necessary to create new types of water filter.

Β-Lactoglobulin when aggregated can expose a metal

binding site for heavy metal ions to bind to. Electrospinning

is done to produce meshes embedded with Β-lactoglobulin

with high surface area to increase amount of binding sites

exposed. However, during filtration, the concentration of

copper (II) nitrate did not show a large decrease and the

results show Β-lactoglobulin amyloid fibrils decreases the

ability of the mesh to act as a water filter for heavy metal
