Project Title Investigating the antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties of active compounds from Annona Muricata leaf extract
Synopsis

This project aims to obtain leaf extract from Soursop (Annona muricata L.) using the Soxhlet Extractor. Using the extract, we will investigate the antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties of the the leaf extract.

After the extraction of the Soursop leaves using the Soxhlet Extractor, the antibacterial properties are investigated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus epidermidis using the well-diffusion method, while the antifungal properties are investigated against A. niger and T. dermatis. For A. niger, the zone-of-inhibition method is used. For T. dermatis, the well-diffusion method is used. Its antioxidant properties will also be evaluated against Quercetin.

The Soursop leaf extract is shown to have antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties.
