Project Title Investigating the Effects of Natural Detergents derived from Fruit Peels

Synopsis

In day-to-day life of the present, laundry detergents remain popular

around due to their effectiveness in removing common stains. However,

the fact remains that many commercial detergents contain harmful

chemicals which can potentially pose serious threats to the wellbeing and

health of individuals. Biologically derived detergents, on the other hand,

provide an alternative solution for laundry washing in a safer and

more environmentally friendly way. As such, this research project

investigated the effectiveness of detergents derived from different types of

fresh and fermented fruit peels. Through experiments investigating the

stain removal and anti-bacterial properties of the fruit peel extracts, the

effectiveness of these alternatives was determined. It was found that the

fruit peel extracts demonstrated significant effectiveness in removing ink,

urea and albumin stains, as well as inhibiting the growth of Escherichia

coli, although further tests are required to ascertain the results.
