Project Title Investigating how to Maximise Muzzle Velocity in a "Vacuum Bazooka"
Synopsis The vacuum bazooka has been a popular and compelling tool for demonstrating acceleration and the power of pressure differentials in air. It makes use of the difference in air pressure inside the bazooka and the atmospheric air pressure outside the bazooka to propel a projectile out. In this research, our objectives are to find out the variables affecting the muzzle velocity in a vacuum bazooka and to maximise its muzzle velocity. It is concluded that the two main factors affecting the muzzle velocity of a vacuum bazooka will be the mass of the ball and the vacuum strength of our setup. It is also concluded that the lighter projectile and a greater vacuum strength will increase the muzzle velocity of the vacuum bazooka.
