The Projects Competition Preliminary Judging will be held as follow:
Date : 01 Apr 2008 (Tue)
Time : 8.00 am to 1.30 pm (flag-raising ceremony and reading programme will be as usual) 
 
Detailed instructions regarding actual venues and what to do for the judging will be posted up on the EMB by the various category coordinators in due time. Please check your EMB often over the next few days.

The venues that will be used for the judging:
Cat 1 : Experimental Research : SC1, SC2, SC3, SC4, Auditorium
Cat 2 : Non-Experimental Research : 3A1, 3A2, 3P1, 3P2
Cat 3 : Innovations & Problem-Solving : 4C, 4D, 4E, 4F
Cat 4 : Resource Development : LT2, LT3, 4A, 4B
Cat 5 : Creative Arts : Arts Studio (Level 3, SRC)
Cat 6 : Language Arts (English) : The Space
Cat 7 : Language Arts (Chinese) : 4G, 4H, 4K, 4M
Cat 8 : Service Learning : 4I, 4J, 4L, 4O
Cat 9a : Maths Research : MA1, MA2
Cat 9b : Infocomm Studies : CLab3
Cat 10 : Entrepreneurship : EP room (SALT)
 
Please read the following guidelines carefully:
 
If ......
  • you are involved in multiple projects, please arrange with the coordinators to have your judging done in such a way that they do not clash
  • you are involved in external competitions or you have official reason to leave school early, please make the necessary arrangement with the coordinators
  • your judging finishes early, stay on in the same venue to learn from the others; you may raise questions or contribute constructive comments for your peers to improve their projects; you must not disrupt the proceedings though
  • you are not involved in any projects, after the reading programme, report to the PE teachers in the Auditorium to take attendance. Thereafter, stay on in the Auditorium to participate as audience
  • your group wishes to change project category, direct your request to the respective coordinators before the judging day
  • you are currently in Beijing Satellite Campus, and if most of your members in the group are also in BSC, you may write in to the respective Category Coordinator to have the Prelim judging carried out in BSC
 
Classroom cleanliness ....
  • most of the Sec 3 and 4 classrooms will be used for judging; the class committee of the above-mentioned venues, kindly help to ensure your classes are cleaned and arranged on Mon afternoon for the next day's judging
  • also, please bring home your personal belongings and clear all items under the desk
 
During judging ....
  • please back-up your presentation, preferably with your thumb-drive for portability
  • no mentor's name nor advisor's name nor institution's name to be revealed
  • if  your operating system is VISTA, please save your work in 97-2003 format; our school's system is still not very compatible with Vista yet
  • each venue will be equipped with a computer & projector with screen to aid you in your presentation
  • focus on persuading the judges of the feasibility and potential of your project; you may expect to be given some advice by the judges on how you can improve your project for subsequent rounds
  • if your group wishes to change project title, do so just prior to the commencement of your presentation by informing the judges
  • if your group has been diagnosed as 'Wrong Category', the judges will inform you which category it should be in, and the group will present in Round 2 (at a later date to be decided). No more judging need be done in Round 1. Do not move away from the current category location.
  • safe-keep your personal belongings and digital devices and laptop (if any)
  • no one should be seen loitering around the school compound
 
After Prelim judging .....
  • help to clean up and arrange chairs and tables back into position
  • with permission from Dean/Studies, the afternoon lessons on 01 Apr (Tue) are cancelled, but EP3 resume (please check with your respective teacher-i/c)
  • Prelim results will be released one week later via the EMB and projects website
  • respect judges' final decisions
  • a group that fails to qualify in Round 1 will have another chance to redeem itself in Round 2 which will be held on a date to be scheduled by the coordinators (in Week 6 or 7 of Term 2)
 
One last word. Your project must have gone through at least one round of vetting by your Mentor. This is to ensure that your work is original and does not infringe upon copyright matters.
